Construction Under Way in Many Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods throughout New Albany are undergoing improvements that include minor street repair, street repaving, curb repair and curb ramp replacement.  In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the city is required to make improvements to curb ramps if streets are repaved.  For this reason, residents may notice that some existing ramps will be removed and then replaced.  Other ramps are being removed but not replaced, and still other new ramps will be installed where they currently do not exist.  Any work performed related to curb ramps is being performed in strict compliance with the ADA.  As these improvements occur, underground drains, irrigation lines and other features in the tree lawn strip will be carefully maintained and repaired if damaged.
